Frequently asked questions

Which GitHub certification should I take first?

Most people start with GH-900 (GitHub Foundations), a Fundamentals-level cert that builds the base before the more role-specific GitHub exams.

What's the difference between GH-900 and GH-600?

GH-900 is Fundamentals-level and proves broad, conceptual knowledge. GH-600 is Associate-level and proves you can perform real tasks with the product. GH-900 is a common (not required) on-ramp to GH-600.

Do I need GH-900 before GH-600?

No. Microsoft doesn't require GH-900 before GH-600. But if you're new to GitHub, starting with GH-900 makes GH-600 much easier.

Is there free practice for these GitHub exams?

Yes. MS Exam Lab offers free, unlimited practice for every GitHub certification, weighted to the official skills outline.
